Ewwwww, LA has nothing that would be good for the Avs. I would be so depressed if they were foolish enough to make a deal with LA. Everyone is either too old or too bad.

Sutter is a genius for keeping that roster competitive.

This organization cannot get something going on since forever! Seems like they are doomed just lile the Rockies were in 1981. Remember when they got Paul Kariya and Selanne? it didn't work. Getting Foote and Forsberg back? Didn't work. Statsny and Oreilly? didn't work. Theodore, Abiesher, Anderson, Raycroft, Budaj...all desasters! Wolski, Ryan Smyth, Hannon, Liles...Not great neither. Landeskog and Duchene? its not working. Are McKinnon and Rantanen next?

Breaking news....winning consistently in this league is hard and the vast majority of the teams have gone through similar struggles.

The main thing the Avs need is a young dman and Ceci is a complete bust and a terrible dman. If Sakic made this trade he should be fired. Unless the right dman is offered up the rest is irrelevant and Ott doesn't have a player that would qualify for that, at least not for Duchene.

Luckily the Avs have McFarlandPants and shouldn't make that mistake.

from previous thread.

First off Cody Ceci is no where close to a bust. He scored 10 goals and 26 points in his 2nd full season (3rd pro). Methot was unhealthy much of it and Phaneuf came in late; the Sens STRUGGLED last year defensively. Horrible. It's the main thing Boucher had to improve and has (marginally).

Ceci hasn't played up to his level of expectation in the first 35 games - to the expectation of a Maata - and Maata has struggled is the same breathe. The difference is Maata has played on a much better Penguins team (also major health issues but not major knee surgery) but young D-men do struggle at some point (most). Ceci and Maata are both great skaters. I'm ok to keep Ceci but Chabot - was named MVP of the WJC. So when you say Avs need a D-man and you have the MVP of the WJC as a trade piece, Sens do have the piece needed. Again if it was Landeskog it would be Ceci in a package or Chabot in a package for Duchene.

Colorado should have just drafted Carlo in the second round in 2015 instead of trading their 32nd pick to SJ. Just to watch Carlo go two spots before Greer and now trying to trade Landeskog for him. They could have had both Greer and Carlo. Problem solved.

Actually Kariya and Selanne did not work due to Selanne having bad knees. If it were not for the lockout year, which Selanne used to rehab his knee, he would have been done in the NHL. Add to that, Granato was a rookie coach and did not do a good job of handling both.

Foote and Forsberg came back after sustaining some heavy injuries in the other locations they played in. They were shadows of their former selves when they returned to Colorado.

Stastny wanted to play in St. Louis as he is from there and would have stayed in Colorado if St. Louis did not offer him a contract. I hear the Oreilly and Duchene did not get along, but saw them play together in the world cup. Don't really understand Oreilly situation at all.

As for the goalies, Montreal struggled for a long time as well after Roy left, so I have empathy for the Avs there. The veterans you mentioned were just stop gaps. And finally, there is nothing wrong with Duchene and Landeskog. Both are awesome players who I would love to have on my team.

Just my two cents...

I think Meloche is a pretty damn good d prospect. If they didnt trade that 2nd to san jose they wouldnt have one of Meloche or Greer plus their 6th rounder back.

Lets hold out for a few years before we play the hindsight game

youre jus annoying as (frank) bc no one wants to trade for Ceci and Lazar and here you are again doing the same redundant poop.

You think Cowen had the same career path as Chara
that Lehner has Rask Elite potential
You wouldnt trade Turris unless it was for Crosby, Malkin, or any actual 1C in the league
You wouldnt trade Lazar unless you were getting Hall back

Do you see a pattern of your assesment of Sens players and prospects?
No one wants to talk about the Sens prospects, how hard is that for you to understand
